Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games series movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Major Return to Panem
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their cameos will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Regarding the filming timeline:
