Netflix Casts Spot-On Actor for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. Bon Clay possesses the power to transform into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the initial comic and anime.
Escola joins a number of recently announced actors who will portray Baroque Works to the screen, including head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the cast as the ruler of the fictional land.
Although the role is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this signals a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Their mix of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.
The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
